Terms of Service

Welcome to Lorekeeper! These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and Lorekeeper ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using our service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Lorekeeper.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Lorekeeper. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's consent to use the service. By using Lorekeeper, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and complete.

2. Your Account

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You must not share your account with others or allow unauthorised access.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • If you suspect unauthorised access, you must notify us immediately.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Acceptable Use

When using Lorekeeper, you agree not to:

  • Post content that is illegal, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Impersonate other users or misrepresent your identity.
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data without authorisation.
  • Use automated bots, scrapers, or other tools to access the service without prior written permission.
  • Exploit bugs, vulnerabilities, or errors to gain unfair advantage or disrupt the service.
  • Upload malware, viruses, or other harmful code.
  • Use the service for spam, phishing, or commercial solicitation.

We reserve the right to remove any content and terminate any account that violates these guidelines, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of the content you create on Lorekeeper (reviews, journal entries, lists, emotional logs). By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and store that content as necessary to operate and improve the service.

You represent that you have the right to post any content you submit and that it does not infringe on any third party's intellectual property rights.

5. Intellectual Property

  • Game Data: Game titles, cover art, descriptions, and metadata are the property of their respective copyright holders. Lorekeeper displays this information via the IGDB API for informational purposes.
  • Lorekeeper Brand: The Lorekeeper name, logo, design, code, and unique features are our intellectual property and may not be reproduced without written permission.
  • Open Source: Portions of our codebase may be available under open-source licences, which are governed by their respective licence terms.

6. Privacy & Data

Your use of Lorekeeper is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. By using the service, you consent to the data practices described therein.

You may export all your data or delete your account at any time from Settings → Data & Privacy.

7. Service Availability

We strive to keep Lorekeeper available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of scheduled downtime.

8. Limitation of Liability

Lorekeeper is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lorekeeper and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the service.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Lorekeeper and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it from your account settings. We may also terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms, with or without notice.

Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. All associated data will be permanently deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered users via email. Your continued use of Lorekeeper after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before pursuing formal dispute resolution.
